Baroda Medical College Foundation Inc is an American charitable foundation built by alumni physicians, teachers, and families who believe that a hospital is only as strong as the people trained inside it. We pay tuition, ship equipment, and keep clinic doors open — and we publish exactly where every dollar lands.
Who we are
Twenty-eight years of the same, unglamorous work
The Foundation began at a kitchen table in Pinellas County in 1998, when four graduates of Baroda Medical College — by then practicing in Florida, Ohio, and New Jersey — pooled $18,000 to keep a single student from withdrawing in her third year. She graduated. She is now an anesthesiologist, and she chairs our scholarship review committee.
That is still how decisions get made here: one file at a time, read by physicians who remember what the shortfall felt like. Our work today covers four areas — student support, hospital and laboratory equipment, continuing medical education, and free community screening clinics — across the United States and partner teaching hospitals in India and East Africa.
We are governed by a volunteer board, audited annually by an independent CPA firm, and we file a complete IRS Form 990 that any donor may request without explanation.

Where the money goes, in plain language
Hospital Equipment Grants
Ultrasound units, ventilators, incubators, and laboratory analyzers placed where the wait for a diagnosis is measured in weeks, not hours.
Academic Scholarships
Named endowed awards honoring physicians who taught, with a mentor assigned to every recipient for the length of their degree.
Community Health Clinics
Saturday screening clinics in Pinellas County and partner sites abroad — blood pressure, glucose, vision, and referral follow-up at no cost.

"I had already written the withdrawal letter."
Aditi's father's shop closed in her second year. She applied to us in March with a two-page letter and a fee statement. The committee met on a Sunday evening, approved full tuition plus her instrument kit, and assigned her a mentor — a cardiologist in Ocala who calls her once a month. She is now in her clinical rotations and volunteers at our Saturday screening clinic.
Equipment Grant · $141,000
A neonatal unit that no longer transfers at 2 a.m.
Two transport incubators, four radiant warmers, and a bedside blood-gas analyzer, purchased and installed with a two-year service contract and staff training included. In the eleven months since commissioning, the partner hospital has reported 96 fewer overnight transfers to the regional referral center.
Community Clinic · Pinellas County
2,410 screenings, 187 referrals that mattered
Our Saturday clinic runs out of a rotating set of church halls and community centers between Largo and Pinellas Park. Last year, volunteer physicians and our scholarship students identified 187 people with untreated hypertension or previously undiagnosed diabetes and walked each one into a follow-up appointment.
